Looking for ways to serve others? Here are a few ways to serve our church and our community. Is God calling you to be involved? Prayerfully consider how God may want you to serve in one of the listed opportunities.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, talk to someone at the Welcome Center or anyone in church leadership (pastors/elders/deacons). You may also contact us through the contact form and we’ll get you plugged in!
Byron Community Ministries
February is our twice-a-year opportunity to help restock the food pantry shelves. See the church bulletin for items that are needed.
Musical Gifts & Talents
Adults & Youth
Do you enjoy singing solos or in a group? Playing and instrument? Reading a monologue or taking part in a drama? These gifts and talents, and many more can be used to honor the Lord? If so, contact Chris Pipe!
Live Broadcast Ministry
Each Sunday, services from Byron Center Bible Church are broadcast to the world through our live broadcast ministry. Technicians are needed to man the cameras, produce the live broadcast, and maintain the live broadcast equipment.
Every Sunday morning a volunteer staff of Door Greeters smile and greet people as they enter our building. Enjoy meeting people? Contact the office for details.
Pastor’s Prayer Groups
Every Sunday just before the morning service a group of men meet in the office to pray for the Lord’s blessing and the Holy Spirit’s leading in the morning service. Different groups rotate every 8 weeks for 15-30 minutes of prayer time.
Mel Trotter Mission
A local ministry that takes place downtown Grand Rapids every third Sunday of the month. Mel Trotter assists in reaching the homeless in the Grand Rapids area. Churches provide a service once a month to connect with those that reside there,
- Join us downtown for the service, extra voices are needed in the congregation to help with singing, as well as meeting and greeting the Mel Trotter clients just as we would at BCBC on a Sunday.
- Vocalists & instrumentalists help lead during the time of worship.
- Volunteers are needed afterward to serve desserts and drinks.
- If you are not able to join us at the service downtown, help is always needed ahead of time through prayer and making desserts that we can bring: cookies, muffins, bars, all are welcome!
If God is moving your heart to volunteer, contact the office for more information or talk to Mike Ross or Chris Pipe.
You smile, greet people, help them find a seat, take the offering, pass out bulletins…you ush! See John Cushman for schedule and details.
Interested in visiting new attendees to our church from Sunday to Sunday? Our Visitation Committee is made up of several people with different areas of responsibilities.
From visiting new “Visitors”, “Shut-ins” and some “absentees”, the committee is also responsible for Outreach activities for evangelism. Contact Pastor Tuinstra to learn more of this activity.
Our technology support team is responsible for every aspect of technology at BCBC. This team does everything from running sound during the worship services, to maintaining computers in the office, to preparing media for the worship service. No matter what your skill level, there’s something for everyone. We can train you!
Visitors Welcome Center
Located in the lobby, our visitor center volunteer staff greet and meet members and visitors as they enter the church. Like to welcome all who come to our church on Sunday? Contact the Church office for more information.
Byron Bible is a missions-focused church, and there are opportunities for the church body to serve on short-term mission trips. Some destinations have been: Guyana, Haiti, Bolivia, Brazil and the Ukraine. Our church has missionaries all over the world that we visit to support their ministries, encourage them and serve the people they are serving right along side with them.
One of our members, Dr. Bill TenHaaf serves the people of Haiti in Jesus name at a hospital in Le Cayes and there are regular opportunities for service there. Construction crews regularly visit to improve the hospital campus and take care of maintenance. Outreach teams visit to work with ministering to people in the community through the hospital as well as a nearby camp ministry.
Byron Manor Ministry
The Byron Manor ministry is an opportunity to reach out to the community, specifically to those senior citizens who are unable to “get out” and attend a church service. A short visit with the residences after the service is also a great time of witness and fellowship. We are looking for volunteers to take part in planning and presenting church services for the residence at Byron Manor located in Byron Center, Michigan. This includes preaching, bringing a lesson, special music in singing or instrumentals, and just being a part of the crowd to talk and show God’s love to the residents.
The Special Events Committee is seeking new members to help with some of the “all-church” events, such as the church picnic, special fellowship dinners and planned fellowship times.
The website committee is responsible for maintaining the Byron Center Bible Church website. Team members write copy for the site, take photos, build pages and update calendars. Contact us if you are interested in joining the crew!
