Area of Ministry:
The Browns serve the Lord in the suburbs north of Johannesburg, South Africa as church-planters, and as trainers of church-planters and pastors. They helped to establish Sandton Bible Church (www.sandtonbiblechurch.org.za) and train its emerging leaders through a church-based leadership development approach known as "Church Ministries Institute" or CMI. Sandton Bible Church is now on its own under the pastoral ministry of Dr. Wayne Gordon, and the church’s elders and deacons.
Ministry Responsibilities:
The Browns are training and assisting South African national pastors and church planters in the "second generation" of church planting, where South Africans are taking the lead roles. Sandton Bible Church intends to plant five churches in the next five years. The Browns are involved in mentoring, equipping and teaching during the week, and observing and assisting South African nationals as they conduct their ministries on the weekend.
Ministry Goals:
- To assist Sandton Bible Church to plant five new churches in the greater Johannesburg area in the next five years (by 2008), specifically in Bassonia (southern suburbs), Ruimsig (western suburbs), Midrand (northern suburbs) and in two other undetermined locations.
- To mentor and train 3-4 men for ministry using CMI
- To assist with the development of CMI as a ministry training tool
- To assist with the development of cross-cultural ministry and church-planting with Believers’ Bible Church on the northeast side of Johannesburg
