All sins are sins of the flesh. In Romans 7 Paul declares that : "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good ins not."
Galatians 5:19 says: "Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these . . . "
Sin, by definition, is that which "falls short" of the perfection of God's righteous standard. All men wrestle with the inability to measure up to the righteousness that is required for fellowship with God. This is why He provided the Savior -- the Lord Jesus Christ -- that we might be made righteous in Him - cp. 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Therefore, all sin is sin - James declares that the one who offends in one point of the law is guilty of all - ( 2:10). However, although every sin is heinous in the sight of God, not all sin carries the same consequences as others. For instance, murder is a capital offense ( Gen. 9:6; Romans 13:4); whereas stealing requires restitution. Sexual sins carry more severe penalty as well since it defiles the picture of the relationship of Christ with the Church.
