I want and love to help people. Becoming a pastor has just recently occured to me. What should I do?

I am grateful to hear of the work that God's Spirit is doing in your heart. You sound as though you have a caring and tender heart - a characteristic that is important in a day of insensitivity and harshness. In response to your question, I would encourage you to do the following:

1) PRAY! earnestly for God to continue to burden your heart to preach the Word of God as faithfully as you are able. The world does not need more "caring people" per se, but people who care enough about others to tell them the truth, God's truth. So, pray for God to burden your heart with the need to preach God's Word.

2) Get involved in a local, conservative evangelical, Bible believing church. Under the direction of a solid, biblically oriented pastor you can receive tremendous counsel and guidance.

3) Consider what schools might be right to provide you an education. Not just any school will do. Consider schools that are not ashamed of their loyalty to the authority of God's Word, teaching that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant Word of God.

Independent of any of these three suggestion would be the personal study of the Scriptures. Read it, meditate on it, and memorize it. If you know Jesus Christ as your personal savior, He has given you His Spirit who will direct you through the Scriptures as to what you need to do to be obedient to Him.

I trust this has been helpful to you. May God bless you.
