Corinthians 6:10; Galatians
5:21; Ephesians
5:5; In these scriptures the Kingdom of God is mentioned. Is there
a difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven? I was
wondering if the Kingdom of God was a personal relationship with God that
gave way to a life of blessing. At the same time I was wondering if the
Kingdom of Heaven was the actual PLACE. ( third heaven ) If this is true
then these scriptures would seem to imply that disobedient people would
not inherit a life full of a blessed relationship with God. But I 'm not
sure about this though because in Mark
14:25 Jesus makes a reference that seems to contradict these things.
It seems here that he is talking about a place rather than a relationship.
It is my belief (although there is debate on the issue) that the Kingdom
of God and the Kingdom of Heaven refer to the same idea. However, there
is to be a distinction drawn between the reign of God that transcends material
representation and occurs in the hearts of men, and the literally earthly
kingdom that will one day be set up on earth by the Lord Jesus Christ (called
the Millennium). In one sense, Jesus Christ rules today over the Kingdom
of God. However, since the promises given to the Jewish people have never
been literally fulfilled, we believe that there is a prophetic kingdom
that will arrive in order for God's Word to be fulfilled. Today, I am a
part of the Kingdom of God, but the Kingdom to come will be a literal earthly
reign of Christ.
