In the letters to the Corinthians what is the difference when Paul writes Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus? Is there any important difference or meaning in intent?

Thank you for inquiring concerning the order of names used for our Lord in Corinthians. Since we believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of God's Word, we do not believe that any words or choice or word order is coincidental. The order of presentation would indicate the emphasis desired - when "Jesus Christ" is used, it would mean that "Jesus" was emphatic, while "Christ" is explanatory. It would indicate that Jesus, the incarnate, humbled Son of God, has now been exalted and glorified as "Christ".

When "Christ Jesus" is used, it would emphasize first the exaltation and glorification of the Son of God and then explain who this "Christ" is by designating Him as "Jesus."

There is a good discussion of this in Lockyer's "All the Divine Names and Titles in the Bible." In there he suggests that "Peter, John, and the others first knowing Jesus on earth, speak and write of Him as 'Jesus Christ'; while Paul first knowing Jesus in glory, uses the expressive title, not found in the gospels, 'Christ Jesus.'"

I hope this is of help.
