Nowhere in the Scriptures are we told that we need to receive confirmation by any church. Salvation does not come through a church, but through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is not granted by a church, but is established when the Holy Spirit convicts one's heart of sin and the sinner responds by calling upon Jesus Christ for forgiveness - a forgiveness that is based on His work of satisfying the wrath of God against sin through His sacrifice on the the cross. If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead triumphant over sin and death, and call upon Him to forgive you of your sin, you will be saved. This happens personally and privately as God's Holy Spirit works in your heart and soul to bring you to faith. Faith alone in Christ Jesus is all that is involved in salvation. Paul's letter to the Romans 10:9-10 states this: "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
In terms of rank, there is no person that is higher than another in the Christian faith. The offices of deacon, minister, priest and so on are people called by God to SERVE the people of God, not lord over them. Let me briefly describe them to you:
1. Pastor: - one who serves the congregation as the principle teacher and shepherd. His role is to preach and teach the Word of God and to encourage the people of God to live true to the principles of Scripture.
2. Elder: - one who has been given the responsibility to assist in the "shepherding" role of spiritual leadership. They are called on by God to care for people spiritually.
3. Deacon - one who is a servant - a person who assists in the care of various physical needs that exist in a church - from caring for the facilities to assisting people in financial need, a deacon is called upon to alleviate the distractions caused by physical things to the Elders in the church.
4. Priest - according to the Catholic church, the priest is a person who represents the people before God - a mediator for the people. However, we are told that there is only one mediator between God and man - and that is Jesus Christ. Consequently, we believe that every person who has been saved is himself a priest in the eyes of God - having no need for a mediator since Christ Jesus serves that role. We can go directly to God in prayer through Jesus Christ without the need of going through any man.
I trust this helps in your efforts to find a relationship with Jesus Christ. I also encourage you to allow your faith to be built firmly on the basis of Scripture - not on the basis of the traditions taught by the Catholic church (which often conflict with what the Bible teaches).
