Much to the contrary, I was tremendously grieved at the death of Gerry Crane. My prayers had been constantly with him and when I was informed of his seizure prompting his heart attach, I was greatly concerned for him. At no time did I attack the man - only the behavior that defied the Biblical morals that this community has embraced since its founding.
As to the "black hatred" you mention, we believe that the warning of a person who is indulging in activities that God has condemned is not an act of hatred, but one of love. Inherent and explicit in our appeals to Gerry was the good news that deliverance from sin - all sin - is available through the grace of God and the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. He died that we might be forgiven and freed from the bondage to our sin:
"Therefore let it be know to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things." (Acts 13:38-39).
However, faith in Christ cannot be mingled with indulging in lawlessness such as homosexuality, a sin God clearly condemns. In addition, He declares that those who practice homosexuality "will not inherit the Kingdom of God." ( 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
Hence, to warn a person of the consequences of his sin that God has delineated in His Word is not an act of hatred, but love.
You may not agree with our conclusions, but I trust you can understand
our heart - its truly one of compassion - Galatians
4:16.
